Falcons Vs Browns Predictions

There’s a reason this game got flexed to Sunday night — it promises to be a good one between two teams battling for playoff spots despite the various issues and absences on both sides. Each of these teams’ games tend to end within one score, and there’s no reason to believe that will change here. These two will go back and forth all night but in the end, Cleveland will walk away victorious.

The fun is over for the Giants. The Daniel Jones injuries have killed the season. It doesn’t look like Jones will play, and if he does, he’ll be a relegated to being a pocket passer which is a death knell for this Giant offense. They will need to score points in this game.

The Browns are soaring, coming off two consecutive 40-point games. Maybe Freddie Kitchens can conjure up some magic against his old team. With Jones hobbled, or out, it is difficult to see that happening.

The Giants’ backs are against the wall here. James Bradberry is out and Daniel Jones will likely be on the sidelines for this game. But that might be needed. Jones wasn’t effective against the Arizona Cardinals, so having Colt McCoy play could be a good thing.

Sure, McCoy might not air it out like Jones can and might not be able to run, but he’ll manage the game well. Plus the last time McCoy saw the field as a starter, he took an 11-point underdog and won on the road.

Atlanta Falcons Predictions

The Giants looked off against the Cardinals, but they didn’t quit. And they won’t quit here with the Browns coming into town.

Call this a crazy pick, but so be it. The Giants find a way to knock off Cleveland on Sunday night.

Following the Giants’ win against the Seattle Seahawks, I was very confident about New York’s chances against the Browns thinking it was a favorable matchup. A lot has changed since then.

I have been going back and forth on this game all week long. With the loss of James Bradberry due to COVID-19, this one might be a little tougher than anticipated.

The Giants lost both Bradberry and Jason Garrett late in the week limiting the time they had to prepare for Sunday without them.

With the Browns coming off an emotional shootout this past Monday night, I think the slightly longer rest for Big Blue could give them a chance in this matchup. Ultimately, between the injuries and the Browns playing well as of late this one is going to be a tough one for the Giants to win.

I think the Giants score late to cut it to a one game deficit but I can see this game getting away from Big Blue early.

It wasn’t a great showing for the Giants last week, mostly because the offensive line was a revolving door and Daniel Jones probably shouldn’t have been playing on a bum hamstring. He’s now dealing with an ankle injury so there’s doubt he will play.

The Browns are likely going to control the line of scrimmage with their offensive line and run game featuring the best running back duo in the league.

With Colt McCoy under center if Jones doesn’t play, it’s tough to see the Giants pulling this one out unless the defense can force several turnovers against Baker Mayfield.

The Giants already had to worry about keeping the Browns’ elite ground game in check, but with James Bradberry out, defending against Cleveland’s passing attack might be a bigger concern.

It isn’t clear what version of Daniel Jones will show up (if he shows up at all), and the Giants will also have to overcome the young quarterback likely playing at less than 100 percent and having a different offensive coordinator calling the plays.

There’s just too much to have to topple for the Giants to win this game, so the Browns roll to their 10th win of the season.

This Browns team is a very different team from Cleveland teams of the past. While they are not quite world beaters yet, they do one thing that Browns teams in the past have not done: They beat the teams they are supposed to. Cleveland has zero losses to sub-.500 teams.

The Giants are a team with a losing record, standing at 5-8. This Cleveland team will be ready to beat them and coming off a painful loss against the Cardinals it is unknown if the Giants will be equally prepared.

To make matters worse, Giants’ star cornerback James Bradberry is going to miss the league due to his placement on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. The combination of his and potentially Daniel Jones’ absence makes it an uphill battle for the Giants to be able to win this game

The Giants took a big risk starting franchise quarterback Daniel Jones on a bad hamstring last week — and it ultimately backfired as he suffered a sprained left ankle — putting his status for Sunday’s contest against the Cleveland Browns in doubt. This means veteran Colt McCoy will likely get his second start of the season, while tight ends coach Freddie Kitchens must step up and call plays against his former team after offensive coordinator Jason Garrett tested positive for COVID-19.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Giants will be without their top cornerback in James Bradberry, who was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list after coming in close contact with someone from outside the organization, who tested positive. Without Bradberry, Garrett, and likely no Jones, the Giants face a tough task against the 9-4 Browns on Sunday Night Football as they try to keep pace in the NFC East sitting a game behind the Washington Football Team.

The Giants were able to pull off an upset over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 13 by running the ball and playing great defense. Unfortunately, without Bradberry, this creates a gaping hole in their secondary. The hope is that they will be able to get the running game going this week, but the Browns will be keying on it.

Don’t expect to see the Giants pull off another upset with McCoy at the helm. The Browns will put up 27 points, and the Giants will scratch across just 10.

Jarrett Bailey writes: 'The Falcons blew a 17-point lead in this same matchup in Week 15 and missed a field goal in the waning seconds that would have tied the game against the Chiefs — this team cannot finish. Tampa Bay beat the Lions by 40 and seem to be riding into the playoffs in sync with one another. The Week 17 betting lines like them by a touchdown, but I like them by at least two possessions.'

Falcons Vs Browns Predictions

Sportsnaut: Buccaneers 31, Falcons 20

Vincent Frank writes: 'It was just back in Week 15 that Tom Brady and the Buccaneers overcame a 17-0 halftime deficit against the Falcons to win by the score of 31-27. It’s a game that saw Brady throw for 390 yards, including a long touchdown strike to Pro Bowl receiver Antonio Brown. Last week saw the Buccaneers open up a 34-0 halftime lead against Detroit before Brady was pulled. All said, the six-time Super Bowl champion has thrown eight touchdowns compared to zero interceptions over the past three games. He has the Buccaneers heading to the playoffs with a 10-5 record and potentially set to rest their starters with very little to play for in Week 17. As for the Falcons, they have now lost nine games by one score after a brutal late-game loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 16. In five of those games, Atlanta held a two-score lead. Julio Jones is banged up. Raheem Morris is playing out the string as the team’s interim head coach. The Falcons have absolutely nothing to play for here outside of draft positioning. Expect that to play a role as they close out another lost season, regardless of who suits up for Tampa Bay.'

Sporting News: Buccaneers 31, Falcons 24

Bill Bender writes: 'Tom Brady averages 311.3 passing yards with eight TDs and no interceptions in his last three games. He's warming up in time for the playoff run, and Tampa Bay hands Atlanta its 10th one-score loss of the season.'

Browns Vs Falcons Score

Payton Matthews writes: 'Atlanta is playing out the string, while Tampa Bay is a Wild-Card team and could opt to rest starters instead of trying to lock down the No. 5 seed in the NFC. The Bucs could get that even with a loss. These teams just played Week 15 and Tampa Bay rallied from a 17-0 halftime deficit to win 31-27.'

Pro Football Network: Buccaneers 34, Falcons 28

Oliver Hodginkson writes: 'Although the Atlanta Falcons thwarted the Kansas City Chiefs for large swathes of Week 16, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will prove too strong for them. Tom Brady and the Buccaneers demolished the Detroit Lions to book their playoff place last week. A repeat of Week 15’s high scoring but close-fought matchup should be in order.'

CBS Sports broke down the line for the game

John Breech wrote: 'The Falcons are generally a team you want to avoid betting against during the final week of the season and that's mainly because they've won four straight games in Week 17. The Falcons have also covered in two straight games against Tampa, including a Week 15 game that the Buccaneers won. Before you think about betting this game, you're going to want find out whether Tampa Bay will be playing its starters. The Buccaneers have already clinched a wild-card spot and can't win the division, which means it won't be surprising if Bruce Arians sits some players on Sunday.'

ESPN: Buccaneers have a 74.3% chance to win the game

The site's Football Power Index gives the Falcons a 25.5% chance to get the victory.
